OUR ROOTS
Founded in 1860, “Antonio & fratelli Zappa” is based in Ponte Lambro, near Como, a city famous worldwide for its flourishing silk industry, and it has been traditionally managed by the Zappa and Borin families through six generations.
From the production of silk spinning machines and iron casting in two different factories, in the 1940s the company evolved to coating machinery, assembling the first coating head ever produced in Italy.
THE CHALLENGE
Ever since, many among the most prestigious companies producing coating lines, in Italy or abroad, have been buying and re-selling with their brands coating heads of our own manufacturing.
Our coating heads have always been considered among the best on the market because of their reliability and precision and are used worldwide to this day, both on complete lines of our own production or in front of rameuse from the most renowned brands.
NEW FIELDS
In addition to the production of coating machines, the company also committed to the field of textile lamination, from the first adhesives and flame laminating machinery, to the thermo-adhesive powder, up to the revolutionary technology of hot-melt laminating machinery in the early 2000.
In January 2000 the first hot-melt lamination machine“PUR-3” was produced and tested; originally designed especially for lingerie manufacture, it subsequently revealed itself as a real discovery that would later change completely the field of lamination and of technical textiles.
INNOVATION
Two years later, due to the growing request for technical textiles laminated with breathable membranes, the company developed a second version of this laminating machine, the “PUR-4” model, that combines the precision and versatility of the PUR-3 allowing it to laminate any type of membranes.
Several models of our “Hot-melt PUR” laminating machines, have been sold and started in Italy and all over the world and have been employed in the following sectors: clothing, lingerie, furniture, sportswear/activewear, automotive, military, healthcare, foam, abrasive sponges, technical textiles.
WIDE RANGE OF PRODUCTION
In addition to those models, that contributed to the appreciation of the company “Antonio & Fratelli Zappa” for its versatility, reliability and last but not least for its after-sales service in Italy and in other parts of the world, there are many other models and machinery that extend our range of production. Our company produces machinery and complete lines for: coating (blade in air, blade over roll), impregnation, lamination (with hot melt reactive polyurethane, hot melt thermoplastic adhesives, thermoplastic powder, etc.), calendering, manufacturing of pre-preg (on the basis of carbon fiber, glass fiber and synthetic fiber), rotary screen printing head, hot melt printing machines for fashion film/foil production, special purpose lines and laboratory equipment.
